ZiFPIM works to expand access to appropriate forms of finance for public interest media organisations. Different organisations have different financing needs and different capacities to use capital.
Grants remain essential where repayment is unrealistic or inappropriate. Where circumstances allow, ZiFPIM seeks to develop and test other financing approaches suited to the needs and financial position of individual organisations.
Access to finance alone does not make a media organisation sustainable. ZiFPIM helps public interest media organisations strengthen the capabilities they need to use resources effectively, adapt to changing markets and build greater resilience.
Some challenges are difficult or expensive for media organisations to address individually. ZiFPIM enables cooperation among public interest media organisations and creates opportunities for engagement between media organisations, financing partners and other actors.
